Lectio Divina (Haines Falls)

  • Sacred Heart–Immaculate Conception Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS
jpiicfw-lectio.jpg

Lectio Divina is a form of prayer that teaches participants to listen to scripture (the word of God) with a new and deeper attentiveness. By acquiring a deeper skill in listening, we allow God’s word to open and transform our hearts, fostering greater intimacy with God and each other. We quickly come to the realization that the word of God is alive and speaking directly to us.

If you can listen to a few lines of a story, you are capable of practicing Lectio Divina. Very young children up to the elderly will all benefit from learning this practice.

All are welcome!

Starting Wednesday, October 16, 2019
This group meets weekly on Wednesday, for 3 weeks.

Humanae Vitae (Syracuse)

Join us for Humanae Vitae with Rita

The papal encyclical, Humanae vitae (Of Human Life) written by Blessed Pope Paul VI and issued on July 25, 1968, provides beautiful and clear teaching about God's plan for married love and the transmission of life. It reaffirms the constant teaching of the Catholic Church on married love, responsible parenthood, and the continued rejection of unnatural forms of birth control. The words of Pope Paul VI contained therein reflect the teachings of his predecessors, especially Pius XI, Pius XII, and John XXIII. Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body fully vindicates and supports Humanae vitae and Popes Benedict and Francis have also voiced affirmation of its teachings.
